My name is Cindy Walker and I have been involved in natural building for 9 years. I began building my own cob/strawbale/lightclay cottage in 2001. I took many workshops and studied with experts in BC and the US to learn how to build my home. I was a participant & co-ordinater of an Alternative Building Training Program for BC Native Women`s Society in 2003-2005. In 2005, I participated in a Natural Building Training Program at OUR Ecovillage on Vancouver Island and have been teaching there since 2006. In 2006-07 I travelled and studied with natural plaster, paint and floor experts in Arizona & New Mexico, New Zealand & a faux finisher in Nevada. Then I returned to my hometown near Nelson BC to work on a feasibility study with Habondia Women`s Lending Society focused on natural building. I started the Natural Plaster Company in 2007 and am building my own off-grid cabin near New Denver, BC. I now specialize in natural plasters, but I also have experience with natural building methods such as cob, strawbale, lightclay, earthen floors, earthen ovens & carpentry. I typically train homeowner`s or contractor`s & their crews how to work with me and can also bring my own experienced helpers.
